Summary
I was a killer, a bandit, a revolutionary leader. My name is Doroteo Arangol. Born on June 5, 1878 in Durango, Mexico. At age 15, I went to work to help my mother support my four siblings and I after my father died. In 1894, at the age of 16, I became a killer after shooting a man for trying to rape my 12 year old sister. I fled to the mountains where I became a bandit and a leader, this is when I changed my name to Francisco “Pancho” Villa. We would steal from the rich and give to the poor, people often saw me as a Robin Hood.
October 1910, I joined a rebellion led by Francisco Madero, all didn't go well so I resigned in May 1911. In the spring 1912, General Victorian Huerta and I gathered troops to help support Madero in starting a rebellion. June of that same year Huerta accused me of stealing one of his horses it was ordered that I be executed but instead I was to go to prison. I didn't spend too much time in there because in December I escaped.
1913, Huerta killed Madero and took presidency. This is around the time I met Venustiano Carrazan. We allied together to fight against Huerta. My hatred for Huerta grew more intense after he order the murder of my political mentor Abraham Gonzales. Abraham had worked with Madero and I since 1910. I can say I was successful with my battles. Summer of 1914, Carrazan and I split and later on became enemies. On March 9, 1916, I made an attack on Columbus, New Mexico and killed 16 American citizens in Santa Isabel. The U.S. made an attempt to come search for me but after a year of searching they came up unsuccessful.
In 1920, Carrazan was assassinated, and Adolfo De la Huerta became the new president of Mexico. De la Huerta was all about peace so he decided to negotiate with me in retiring. Part of out peace agreement was that I would receive a store in Chihuahua, Mexico. All this was my life as a revolutionary leader. I didn't get to live very much of my retired life. I was gunned down and assassinated on July 20, 1923
